Performance Emphasis

To receive a BA in Theatre with an emphasis in Performance a student must take a minimum of 57 credit hours. This includes 39 required foundational credits, with an additional 9 credit hours of departmental electives, and a minimum of 9 additional credits of specific advanced performance focused courses.  A total of 120 credits are required for the degree.

A student who wishes to receive a BA in Theatre with an emphasis in Performance will need to successfully complete introductory courses in theatre and cinema, script analysis, acting, design, stage and lighting technology, production labs, history of drama and theatre, and directing.

Plus additional course work in -

  • 9 credit hours of Theatre and Cinema Electives, and at least 
  • 9 credit hours of Performance classes from the following
    • TA 2144 Foundations of Movement and Voice
    • TA 2224 Intermediate Performance Intensive
    • TA 3154 Acting Topics (rotating topics including such foci as Performing Shakespeare, Musical Theatre, Audition Techniques, Acting for the Camera, etc.)
    • TA 3164 Voice and Speech Topics (rotating topics including such foci as Diction and Dialects, Voice-Over Narration, Heightened Text, etc.)
    • TA 3174 Movement Topics (rotating topics including such foci as Stage Combat, Creative Dance, Laban Analysis, etc.)
