Congratulations Seniors!

The Department congratulates all of our 2013 B.A. and M.F.A. graduates. Together they comprise another one of our largest graduating classes ever. The departmental ceremony takes place Saturday morning, May 18, in the Squires Studio Theatre, and recognizes students completing their degrees in winter, spring, or summer semesters.

The Department presented student awards and scholarships at the annual Spring Thing banquet on May 5. The Helen Hayes Award for continuous service went to graduating seniors Coryn Carson and Jackie Mullen. Julia Katz, also a graduating senior, received the Prince-Dukore Award for scholarship excellence, and Juli Keller and Zak Kristofek were recognized with the Cinema Award. The Anne and Phil Milous Award for outstanding contributions to non-performance work was given to Scott Tusing and George Ligon. The Theatre Arts Award for excellence in performance went to Coryn Carson. The Tom Haggerty Award for a first-year student was shared by Jessica and Jennifer Davison. Joey DiPette received the Felice Proctor non-major student award, and Jennie Allen received the Sharon Malone non-student award for outstanding service to departmental productions.

Financial Scholarships were awarded to Trey Tetreault, who got the Donald A. Drapeau Academic Scholarship; and Nathan Jackson, who received the Margaret L. Driscoll Expressive Movement Scholarship. Arts Scholarships were awarded to Mary Sader (rising senior), Jane Harlow (rising junior), and Sanam Hashemi (rising sophomore). Congratulations to all!

2013-14 Mainstage Season Announced

The 2013-14 season of mainstage theatre productions opens in October with Suddenly Last Summer by Tennessee Williams. The show will be directed by Bob McGrath and performed on the classic proscenium stage in Haymarket Theatre. Anton Chekov's Three Sisters, directed by David Johnson, fills the second main stage slot in November. The spring semester opens with Richard Greenberg's Three Days of Rain, directed by Bob Leonard. The final show of the season, a musical, will be Spring Awakening, with book and lyrics by Steven Slater, music by Duncan Sheik. This will be a collaborative production between the music and theatre programs in the School with direction by Susanna Rinehart. Additional T101 and workshop productions will be added to the schedule after classes begin next fall.
